Our Client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of electric motors and integrated controls. It is a global enterprise comprised of approximately 230 subsidiaries/affiliates. Their product line features a full line of high efficiency motors, large and small, which serve Industrial, residential and commercial markets in applications ranging from water treatment, mining, oil and gas and power generation to pool and spa motors, air conditioning condensers, rooftop cooling towers and commercial refrigeration. It also makes motors, controls and switches for automotive and commercial markets.
Main responsibilities:
Manages new product development, by taking a lead of all Purchasing activities in the project. This includes following duties:
- Works out Bill of Material cost estimations for motors (all components, all commodities)
- Conducts RFX with the current approved suppliers and potential ones
- Involves suppliers into potential projects at very early stage (phase 0 or 1) in order to assure use of functional specifications as a basis of consultation and makes sure that suppliers’ VA/VE ideas are taken into account
- Initiates, when necessary, value analyses to meet target costs
- Facilitates communication between suppliers and the various project team members
- Collaborates with Global Purchasing and R&D engineering located in Germany, Poland, Spain and Japan to maximize value of Global Projects
- Work out sourcing recommendation for approval by Sourcing Committee
- Negotiates and concludes supplier nomination and necessary contracts with suppliers
- Monitor suppliers’ tooling manufacturing schedules are consistent with the project timing
- Coordinate APQP process with close collaboration with supplier and commodity engineers
- Report actual project status to Project Manager and Functional Manager
- Manage ramp up phase with suppliers
- Solve supply chain issues caused by suppliers at early stage after SOP
For Research Projects, may be called on to perform Purchasing Marketing to look for suppliers of new technologies (when relevant)
Requirements:
2 years of experience (minimum) in Purchasing on similar position, preferably in the automotive industry Good technical knowledge, preferable in the stamping, die-casting, injection molding Very good communication skills with international mindset Good financial and costing basis Result orientated with pro-active approach, capable to work autonomous Knowledge of purchasing tools and standards Strong skills in commercial negotiation Fluent English
