Global Category Manager (raw materials) Location: Cracow or home office Ref. PL22- R201 – S01
Our Client is a global leader in metal flow engineering.
Position goal:
Strategically develop and implement purchasing strategies covering Non-group managed Raw Materials, cooperate on daily basis with suppliers the best contracts in terms of quality, price, delivery, actively discuss with Operations/R&D department to follow the needs.
Reporting line: Global Purchasing Director
Subcategories examples: carbon black beaded, fluorspar, fly ash high carbon, fly ash low carbon, magnesite, milled coke, soda, wollastonite, phosphorus slag
Key Responsibilities:
In this newly set global role you will be mostly responsible for:
- Development and execution, of global procurement strategy (20 countries) in alignment with stakeholders as well as divisional procurement strategies
- Development of a supplier rationalization plan for particular categories and identification of strategic suppliers on quality, service, technology and price
- Performing root cause analysis towards re-occurring supply issues and taking the lead in initiating corrective actions towards structural operational issues
- Monitoring market conditions for all cost drivers for your category to adapt the respective purchasing strategy, anticipate repercussions for the business and generate performance or build and implement a mitigation plan
- Development and maintenance of strategic relationships with key suppliers
- Negotiating all commercial terms with suppliers to drive material cost improvement to meet/ exceed functional objectives. Considering quality, service, technology, price and timing of needed products
- Evaluation of contracts and suppliers in order to facilitate final supplier base decisions with relevant stakeholders
- Procurement KPI Performance Management (savings, supply base reduction, payment terms improvement) within your area of responsibility Creation and maintenance of accurate and timely reporting
- Following up with internal communication with Operations Team in terms of quality, delivery, design changes
- Ensuring compliance with global functional processes and procedures as well as local procedures and work instructions
Qualifications:
- MA degree in Technical field be an advantage
- Min. 10 years of experience in strategic procurement within international environment
- 5+ years of global/ regional strategic procurement experience in managing category (raw materials, chemicals, minerals) within manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of the industrial minerals market would be a strong advantage
- Change introduction and management
- Success track record in leading and driving the execution of the category management agenda
- Well-rounded and experienced procurement professional with sound business acumen and project management skills
- Data and people driven leader and decision maker
- Ability to negotiate and contract, execute cost analysis
- Dedicated partner who strongly engages with both the business and the global procurement organization to enhance collaboration and obtaining the global procurement objective
- Fluent written and verbal English is a must
- Very good communication skills
- Business ethics
- Sufficiently assertive to get things done from colleagues higher up the hierarchy
- High accuracy in performed work
