Our Client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of electric motors and integrated controls. It is a global enterprise comprised of approximately 230 subsidiaries/affiliates. Their product line features a full line of high efficiency motors, large and small, which serve Industrial, residential and commercial markets in applications ranging from water treatment, mining, oil and gas and power generation to pool and spa motors, air conditioning condensers, rooftop cooling towers and commercial refrigeration.    It also makes motors, controls and switches for automotive and commercial markets.   

Main responsibilities:

Being a part of the European procurement team and reporting to Commodity Manager (Spain), you will be mostly responsible for:

  • Definition and implementation of the target panel by commodity(ies) with a scope of three years
  • Focus on the identification of best-in-class suppliers who match the global strategy and selection criteria
  • Continuous observation of market and product to identify new suppliers, manufacturing processes, technologies and raw materials
  • Building strong and reliable partnerships with preferred strategic suppliers
  • Responsible for the assured Purchasing contribution to the P&L-Budget together with the other Purchasing areas
  • Develop a 3-year business plan by commodity(ies) and by supplier(s)
  • Breakdown of the strategic purchasing targets into the commodity(ies)
  • Permanent price analysis and global benchmarks for continuous price reduction
  • Negotiating international contracts as well as independent negotiation of conditions and legal terms of contract
  • Development, support and implementation of technical and commercial cost optimization projects (f.e. VAVE, SPI)
  • Participate in the selection of suppliers for each project and validate the final choice
  • Ensure the quality of purchased components in collaboration with the Quality teams
  • Being responsible for the Supplier Performance Report (SPR) in collaboration with the Commodity Engineers

KPI’s:

  • Existence of a commodity strategy and an optimized supplier panel
  • Purchasing index, based on total cost approach (QCD)
  • PPM, supplier incidents
  • Monitoring of SPR corrective actions

Requirements:

  • BA/ MA degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain or related field.
  • 3-5 years professional experience in commodity purchasing (direct materials) preferably in the automotive industry, multi-site experience would be a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in strategic procurement within international environment
  • Ability to work effectively with incumbent and new potential suppliers as well as with internal cross-functional managers
  • High degree of understanding of cost drivers, market dynamics and competitive tensions
  • Good technical knowledge
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills in English
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Assertiveness, decision-making ability and a high degree of commitment and resistance to stress as well as team orientation.
  • Computer skills: PC software, Internet, SAP Modul MM
